504 Program
Section 504 states that “No otherwise qualified individual with a disability in the United States, as defined in section 706(8) of this title, shall, solely by reason of her or his disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance...” [29 U.S.C. §794(a), 34 C.F.R. §104.4(a)]. Special Education
Hudson ISD and Peavy Primary provide optimal opportunities for special education students to experience the most effective education possible. The use of inclusion teachers and modified curriculum provide each special education student the opportunity to learn in a regular education classroom.
English Language Learners
Hudson ISD and Peavy Primary have ESL teachers in each grade level to assist with English Language Learners. Each campus has staff who are fluent in Spanish to assist with student communication for students who enter the district with no English speaking skills. School counselors and teachers work together to foster a learning environment for these students.
